Electrolyte Balancing

The final event in most cardiovascular events and strokes is the formation of a blood clot. An understanding of what causes this to occur is crucial to being able to prevent it. One of the factors that determine the behavior of particles in a fluid is called Zeta Potential, which, in simple terms, is a measure of the stability of particles in a fluid. In other words, it represents the tendency for suspended particles to precipitate (clot) or remain in suspension. The Zeta Potential is dependent on the amount of fluid, the number of particles in the fluid, and the ionic charges on the particles.

As Zeta Potential is very difficult to measure, another, simpler, process is used to determine the tendency of blood to clot. This is called Specific Conductance, and is measured by using a urine sample. This tells us how many particles there are. Too many produce a greater likelihood of clotting, and also represents a greater load on the kidneys. If the load is too high the kidney must work harder to stabilize the amount of minerals in the blood. If it is too much for the kidneys to handle, then fluid retention in the tissues is used to dilute the minerals, resulting in swelling (edema). One of the most effective treatments for this finding is our Electrolyte IV, which uses a combination of EDTA, Vitamin C, and minerals. The urine Specific Conductance should be done before and after each IV to track progress and help determine if changes in therapy need to be made.

The type of minerals in the blood is measured by typical blood work. This blood test tells us what we need to use orally in order to help balance the minerals in the blood. We use a liquid suspension of minerals in an ionic (charged) form to correct any imbalances. Diet and water intake are also very important to this process. You must avoid all soft drinks and coffee. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts enhance the process. Junk food, fried foods, and an emphasis on too much protein can be detrimental.

This combination of IV and oral therapies helps to change the blood so that it has the ideal physical traits to enhance proper function and health. This approach treats what is called the “terrain”, which refers to the characteristics of our internal environment. This is reflected by pH, resistance, conduction, and other variables. These variables help determine if one is too acid or alkaline, is prone to clotting or not, and whether one is susceptible to a host of other conditions, including infections, stone production (kidney or gall bladder), arthritis, cancer, and a host of other ailments. This is therefore a very basic approach that influences our health in a wide range of areas. For a more complete description of this approach, go to www.luminet.net/~wenonah/riddick/edta.htm.
